Dil Mil Inc., a match making app dedicated to South Asian community has raised USD 2.7 million in the Pre-Series A round from a group of investors. Reportedly, the funds will be used to enhance technology and add new products to the existing portfolio.

Dil Mil has raised USD 3.8 million since its incorporation from the likes of Will Bunker (Founder of Match.com), Founders of Saavn, Naval Ravikant (Founder of AngelList), Nelstone Ventures, Transmedia Capital, Maiden Lane Ventures, CSC Upshot among others.

The app which was started and bootstrapped by KJ Dhaliwal (CEO) and Sukhmeet Toor (CTO) has touched 1 million downloads mark. The company claims that their matches have resulted in 3 marriages a week.

According to the company, Dil Mil is not the regular dating app. They use advance technology to ensure best matches are projected. To maintain privacy, users can anonymously like or pass on potential matches. Further, the photos are displayed for a jiffy till a match is made.

The app is very popular in the US but is slowly spreading its wings in other countries like UK and Canada. India gives them tremendous opportunity as more than 50% Indians are under 30 and smartphone penetration is increasing leaps and bounds.

South Asian community which is known to be on the conservative side (where very often parents are found not comfortable with their children using dating Apps), Dil Mil projecting and positioning itself as match making app rather than dating app gives them a very unique position and even slight advantage over apps like Tinder.
